I have a laptop running Vista Ultimate and I am able to connect to my wireless network (Belkin F5D8233 Router). My sidebar network gadget shows that the signal is at 100%, but for some reason I can't connect to the Internet. What can I do to resolve this?

My network adapter does have the latest driver, and I've already tried the following:

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset IPv4 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log

Reset IPv6 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log

would you post an ipconfig /all

what firewall do you have - switch that off - it may be blocking

if wireless, take off the secrutiy if you have it enabled on the router

You appear to have a good connection to the router, so this appears to be a connectivity issue somewhere beyond that.

Let's see this to start.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Sorry, wrong paste, this is what I wanted you to do.

Try these simple tests.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD (COMMAND for W98/WME) to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following commands one at a time, followed by the Enter key:

IPCONFIG /ALL

PING <computer_IP_address>

PING <default_gateway_address>

PING 206.190.60.37

PING yahoo.com

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

<computer_IP_address> - The IP Address of your computer, obtained from the IPCONFIG command above.

<default_gateway_address> - The IP address of the Default Gateway, obtained from the IPCONFIG command above.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Disable ALL firewalls and see if that changes the symptoms.

Ok, I disabled all firewalls and even disabled the security mode on my router, but no change. So go ahead and tell I'm screwed...

OK, I'll tell you that. :D

Are you SURE you got all the firewalls? This is a classic sign of a firewall blocking access.

Yeah, I shut down the ALL firewalls on my host computer AND my laptop. Still I have access to the network, but not the internet.

I really think it's a problem with my network adapter (Atheros AR5006EG), because it's on, but Vista tells me, "Windows cannot find any networks". I've installed the latest driver. I even went back to the old driver, but no change.
