I am trying to turn on Windows Defender with no success. I click on the works turn on Windows Defender but it just keeps going on and on. I tried downloading it again with the wizard but it said it said the wizard was interrupted and try again when I do it does the same thing. i tried downloading it from the Windows site and after downloading the pop up said "You do not need to install this software because Windows Defender is included in Windows Vista (I have Windows 7) You can access Windows Defender from the security section of the Windows Control Panel". Again, I tried this but when I click on the words "turn Defender on" it just keeps going on and on without doing anything. HELP!

Do you have a security suite or other security application that has (correctly) turned off Windows Defender?

If not, the best thing to do with Windows Defender is to use something else. Microsoft Security Essentials is my choice.

I agree. Install and use Microsoft Security Essentials for virus/malware protection. (y)

What are you currently using for an antivirus program?
