Solved: Cant get yellow ethernet cable to work

    Hi all,
    i have a desktop with windows xp home edition.
    i currently have to use a blue usb cable from my internet gateway into my computer as my ethernet cable will not work.
    do i need to install a driver or something for it to work?

    any suggestions will be appreciated

    Hey, spend $5 and get another ethernet cable. USB connections are a pain.

    I assume your network adapter has the driver installed?

    check your hardware from device manager under network adapters. If nothing appears under it then yeah you will need to install a driver, otherwise just pickup another Ethernet cable, they are pretty cheap

    Although unlikely, you might happen to have a 'crossover' cable' and be trying to use it with LAN ports which are not capable of auto-switching the connections. So yes, if it is not the drivers then trying another cable is a good idea.
