Previously downloaded a freeware Download Manager software called Fresh Download by www.freshdevices.com

Wasn't satisfied with performance so I uninstalled it. This error message comes up whenever I go to download anything in FIREFOX ONLY:

I have gone through and removed all traces in my registry to no avail. The vendor does not offer tech support.

I have to use IE for all downloads and it is a pain.

Anyone have a suggestion? Sure would appreciate it.

    John

    Try This First

    Clearing Cache on Firefox 1.0
    Click Tools and select Options.
    Click the Privacy Icon.
Click Clear across from the Cache option.
    Click Ok.
    Exit and relaunch the browser.

    Clearing Cache on Firefox 2.0
    Click Tools and select Options.
    Click the Privacy icon.
Click Clear Now in the Private Data area.
    Click Ok.
    Exit and relaunch the browser.

Check in msconfig under startup and see if it is mentioned there

Other places to look are in Services go Start>>Run type services.msc click OK

Look down the list and if you see it double click on it and stop service and disable it.

If you can't see it post a HijackThis log and maybe it will show in there

Download Hijack This to your desktop
    • Extract Files
    • Open the file and click on the Hijack.exe
    • It will open and use the default path
    • Check do you wish an Icon
    • Click on Icon and choose "scan system and save a logfile" usually in notepad
    • Copy and Paste the logfile in your next post
    • Using Ctrl+A to copy All and Ctrl+C to copy and Ctrl+V to paste.

First check in Control Panel and Add/Remove Programs look for

    TrueDownloader

    If found remove it

Now use Windows Explorer to find and delete these Files/Folders ]If Present,

    C:\Program Files\TrueDownloader

    Restart the PC

Well, I had a thought to reinstall the offending software and then uninstall it again.

    IT WORKED !

I can now download again with Firefox.

Thanks for all the helpful suggestions, boy it feels good to have this monkey off my back.

    Cheers,
    John
