I can't see hidden folders, using an admin account, on my own (D) drive. Didn't even know they were there until I saw them on an admin account on a W 7 box that had mapped to the W8 drive. That kind'a scares me that I can't see my own stuff. Any ideas?

What setting do you have for "Hidden files and folders"?

OK, you jogged my memory and I found some new stuff. I had the "hidden items" box checked under the "view" pulldown menu. Then I went to control panel and looked for the "hidden files and folders" you mentioned and found "hidden files and folders". I had selected "show hidden files folders and drives" as I always do but then I discovered 2 more items that were new to me. "hide folder merge conflicts" and "hide protected operating system files". both were checked. I unchecked them and now I can see all my stuff (I think. So far, so good)

    Thanks!

    You're welcome. :)

Microsoft has some strange ideas about what is included in "protected operating system files."
