It is more than annoying that Skype takes all my phone numbers in my address book and on anything on my PC that appears in phone number format and converts it to a Skype link. I did not authorize this and it's ridiculous because if you are not careful when looking to copy a phone number, connects the link and starts making a call you don't want to make.

I went to the pathetic "support forums" on Skype where you can't find anything useful and Skype has no actual, legitimate customer support.

All I want to do is unsync Skype from my phone numbers on my pc but there doesn't appear any obvious way of doing this other than to uninstall Skype, which I might do because I"m disgusted with them. I'm sure there's some cooking lurking on my computer somewhere in a Skype folder that'is the culprit and needs to be deleted but I don't see where.

Originally, I sent this to the Internet forum, assuming it would be the most appropriate forum but got only one response that didn't address the issue so I figure it may be more focused in how xp interfaces with Skype.

Hi Blindy8,

It seems that you have the callto:// option enabled. Please go to:

1.- Sign in to Skype.
2.- Click Tools > Options... > Advanced.
3.- Check Use Skype to call callto: links on the web.

Tell me if this was helpful.

Thanks for reading.

Unfortunately, after unclicking the boxes for that and the Skype watermark, Skype keeps syncing my phone numbers with their annoying links. I even rebooted the computer to no avail after doing what you suggested. I find that if I send myself a test message with the phone number template xxx-xxx-xxxx using 1's, the Skype link isn't synced, but when I send out a legitimate number, Skype picks it up and links it. I am infuriated with them and see this as completely invasive!!! I didn't ask for this. If I'm trying to copy the number and am not careful, the link is activated and I have to wait for Sype to load then I get a requester to make a call. Ridiculous. Skype has no customer service per se and their forums do not address this issue. It's as though they are trying to force you to buy minutes.

I can't believe this is so difficult to solve but I have nowhere to search for solutions. I have looked over all the skype links including the one you sent me and if there is something that addresses It, I can't find it. I have wasted hours with this stupid issue and am disgusted. I appreciate your efforts to help, however, and I'm sure there is a simple solution but I can't find it.
