    good day experts!

my issue is that whenever i press caps lock, num lock or scroll lock,
a message appears on my screen saying either caps lock:eek:n or off.
the same with pressing num lock or scroll lock. message appears just on top of the system tray.
how do you disable that message? thanks

If you're on Windows try looking in the Keyboard Control Panel applet in case there are any settings that control these features.

i'm using a dial up connection for my internet.
i checked Keyboard Control Panel also, but there are no features for keyboard messages like this.is it a virus of some kind?

    i didn't install any desktop manager,and i'm using a non branded ps2 keyboard,with creative usb optical mouse.

the message is NOT inside the system tray, actually it's located on the screen an inch above the system tray,it's a rectangular box with a greyish white background, black font.it is visible for about secs. if you press caps lock.num lock or scroll lock.saying it's on or off.help please!

Were any drivers installed with the keyboard that might be generating these messages? Note that this review of a MS optical keyboard says:
so maybe these features are available as standard in certain MS drivers?

actually clubman,my keyboard is just a generic ps2 made in china.i ran kapersky anti virus.it found viruses inside my documents/recent related to my cellphone (os symbian) since i upload images using bluetooth, guess it's nothing to do with my original issue.i ran spybot and adaware, found nothing.

You must have something installed. I can not find any settings on either of my machines (one running pro and one running home edition of XP) that would enable or disable such a feature.

That may not matter as it may still use generic/Microsoft drivers regardless of where it comes from. Maybe you could run Belarc Advisor and post the software list that it comes up with?

I solved this issue way back..

I started when I first installed MSI's Bluetooth dongle (named Btoes) 'usb' device in my pc a while back. That's when I experienced these keyboard indicators when i clicked on caps lock, num nor scroll lock.A message pops up near my system tray telling me that..

What i did was, to disable BTTray in my startup system conf. utility in win xp.The alerts were gone!
