Hey, all,

I currently running Vista Home Premium and am finally moving to Win 7

I have the bootable Windows 7 install disc and certainly want to do a clean install.

Now I'm a bit on the anal side so I really want the install to be clean and am considering doing a wipe on the drive, then booting from teh Win 7 install cd.

Is this wipe needed? Or will I get a good, clean install by simply booting to the Win 7 install cd?

Thanks in advance!

The wipe is NOT needed, and the by not doing it, the install should make a "Windows.old" folder that one can go back and get some of those files and folders that one did not get backed up. It can NOT be used to restore any programs that WERE installed on the older OS.

Once you are 1000% (not a typo error) sure that you have all of your data within the new OS, then this Windows.old folder can be removed. It is part of the Windows Clean up tool, that has been part of Windows since Windows 95.
