Try WinMerge. It says it's compatible with Windows 2008 which is what the earlier version of Windows 7 was called.

If that doesn't work try ExamDiff which may or may not work with Windows 7.

Thanks ... I'll try WinMerge first
If it wont work on W7 .. I can always move to XP ..
But I'm trying to find out what changes in W7's registry when I do something.

WinMerge looks like it does what I wanted ... and I found the Parts of the registry that changes.

I'm backing up with Acronis before I go changing things when I don't know what I'm doing.

Wish me luck ... Maybe I can get W7 to work as good as XP

I've found one Registry tweak where I can customize the R Click Context menus ...
for Irfanview Images .. Like one could in XP.
I hate having to take the "Open With" >> "Multiple Choice Test" route every time.

There's also a registry hack to get the small Shortcut arrows on Icons.

I'm now trying to figure out how to shut off the Thumbnail viewing on the Desktop so I can see Icons ....
without disabling all Thumbnail Browsing.

Thumbnails of some, but not all Images, on the Desktop is Stupid ... I can't see what I'm working with in W7
