will 2 different brands of SDRAM be compatible with each other
    i.e.
    256 mb from crucial +
    256 mb from kingston...?

yes, each selection of ram would have the same compatability (PC 133, 168 pin DIMM to be exact)

i dont see why not, i am just curious before I buy

    thanks

My laptop's got 256 of no-name OEM in one slot and 512 of Corsair in the other.

My linux box has 32 of kingston in one slot and 32 of Dell in the other.

My gaming box has 512 of K-Byte in one slot and 1024 of Patriot in the other.

The moral of the story is "Yeah, you should be hunky-doory."
