Hi all. A couple months ago my brother downloaded Error Safe on to our computer (He goes on some questionable sites and never used Firefox until I demanded that he did.) For awhile Errorsafe kept popping up when Windows started, I kept scanning with Ad-Aware, AVG Anti-Virus, and Spybot. After a while the program stopped loading at startup, but I noticed that some programs (startmon, and Uers) which are both in the Error Safe folder were running on the computer. I didn't delete the folder because I was afraid it would mess up the computer. Now, the computer has been running slow sometimes and coming out of standby quite frequently. If anyone could review this HJT log and help it would be appreciated.

Running 2 anti-virus programs at the same time isn't a good idea either. (AVG and Norton) That can cause conflicts on a system.

    Run ActiveScan online virus scan:
    http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/activescan.htm

Once you are on the Panda site click the Scan your PC button.
A new window will open...click the Check Now button.
    Enter your Country.
    Enter your State/Province.
Enter your e-mail address and click send.
Select either Home User or Company.
Click the big Scan Now button.
If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it.
It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It may take a couple of minutes)
When download is complete, click on My Computer to start the scan.
When the scan completes, if anything malicious is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to a convenient location.
Post the contents of the ActiveScan report.

Ah okay. I never use Norton anymore because it came with my computer and it's free trial has been up for awhile. Should I uninstall it?

Panda scan is still going...I will put the results up as soon as it has finished.

Thank you for helping me with this!

    Yes uninstall it.

    Rescan with Hijack This.
Close all browser windows except Hijack This.
Put a check mark beside these entries and click "Fix Checked".

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [autorunkeyname] C:\Program Files\ErrorSafe Free\startmon.exe

    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [ErrorSafeFree] "C:\Program Files\ErrorSafe Free\uers.exe" /min

    Reboot.

Please download the Killbox by Option^Explicit.

Note: In the event you already have Killbox, this is a new version that I need you to download.
    • Save it to your desktop.
    • Please double-click Killbox.exe to run it.
    • Select:
      • Delete on Reboot
      • then Click on the All Files button.
    • Please copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy):

      C:\Program Files\ErrorSafe Free
      C:\WINDOWS\system32\actskn45.ocx

    • Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose Paste from Clipboard.
    • Click the red-and-white Delete File button. Click Yes at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click OK at any PendingFileRenameOperations prompt (and please let me know if you receive this message!).

If your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually.

If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run Killbox, click here to download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try Killbox again.

    Post a new log.

It definitely seems to be starting up a lot quicker! Things seem to be pretty smooth. Before there was a sort of lag when the computer would start up, and when I would try to open up firefox. There are also less programs running now. You've really been a great help!

Thank you so much! I will try and get a donation out to you guys soon!

I just have one more question. Is it okay for me to delete the error safe folder that is in the program folder? I don't know if it has any registry files in it that may harm the computer if it is deleted.
