You mean your virus software trys to do a full system scan? Or check disk?
In other words, is it checking the disk for errors, or scanning for virus's?

Sounds very much like it could be your power supply.

how does your system shut down? ... does it just go to a black screen and then reboot? or does it pop up a error message then shut down?

i just recently posted a thread about this topic, sorry for not checking in here, but if you can answer my question to that. My computer does exactly what you said, the screen goes black and reboots and does it very randomly and frequently.

thanks for any help you can give me.

More info is needed. Post exact make and model of computer or if it is a custom build, the make and model of the mb.

    What os is installed?
Have you installed any new hardware or software lately?
Has it always done this or has it just started?

Fullsailaway, you should be starting your own thread and not Hijacking someone elses, it becomes to confusing !

    Beauty,

Your QTFont problem is related to the Quicktime software, try uninstalling/re-installing Quick Time.

This one is related to the Ebay Toolbar, recebay.rec,
    If you don't want it.

    To uninstall eBay Toolbar:
Click on the arrow to the right of the eBay icon on the eBay Toolbar.
From the drop-down menu, select the Uninstall eBay Toolbar option.

You may also have some corrupt system files, to repair them, place the windows XP install disk, in the cd tray. (Stop it running if it starts)

Click Start/Run and type sfc /scannow

note the space before the forward slash ! This will launch the System file checker and install new copies of any corrupted sytem files.

Download Hijack This from here http://thespykiller.co.uk/files/hijackthis_sfx.exe

Run Hijack this and post the log back in here for analysis. Do Not fix anything it finds until advised to do so.

Most likely your power supply. Get a knowledgable friend with a multimeter to make sure the power supply is delivering power properly. If you don't have a knowledgable friend, take it to where you bought it and tell them that you "think it's a power supply problem", and they'll probably check, by way of their scrawny A+ certified instincts.

    Hope this helps,

    Roger
