Uninstalled MicroTrend internet security 2005 and installed internet security 2006, however, when computer was restarted the screen came up but before icons could be loaded I got a screen stating TMProxy experience an internal error and will be closed. Uninstalled all references to MicroTend including to registry so no more TMProxy. I tried to restore to date before installation but it gave me the same results. I get the windows screen with green grass, but after about 30 to 45 seconds I get a screen “Logging Off” then a screen stating “Saving your Settings” then another screen “loading your Personal Settings” and this cycle continues without end. I am running XP with SP2.

There is nothing in the device manager. Also I worked with MicroTrend support and they were unable to fix the problem and finally said that there is some kind of failure because they removed everything from MicroTrend.

I actually have back-up disks to restore, however, if there is a component failure, then that wont' help.

Thanks. That non-destructive restore sounds great.

Actually, I have already completed the non-destructive restore using the repair on XP.

My current situation is: I have restored my system to an image back in March and I am still getting the reboot cycle. I think that tells me that there is some kind of hardware failure? Any suggestions?

i would take it down to minimum configuration
so powersupply, motherboard, graphic card, harddrive - disconnect every thing else
see if it will boot into safe mode
