the computer is a dell d 3000 i went to turn it on and nothing happened. i switched the power supply with a known working one out of my other dell. still nothing happened. I tried takeing the power switch apart but none of the wires seem to be in bad shape. i should also note that there is a little green LED on the board that comes on when ever i plug the power chord. I am thankful for any help that is given i am stumped i read somewhere that you could take a screw driver and touch it to the pins on the board and power the machine up but that didn't sound like a good idea. also, i noticed that the CMOS battery was unusually warm when power was plugged in.

    thanks!

    Hi!

If you are afraid to do the screwdriver thing (also works if you contact the 2 cables of the power switch) try replacing the power switch with a new one. In most cases the power switch is identical to the reset switch. So you just need to remove the plug from the reset slot of your m/b and place it on the power slot. If done correctly the reset button will turn on/off your PC.
