OK...I am saving files off an old computer and I'd like to load them on my new computer.

Old computer has Word and Excel 97 the new computer had 2003 versions...will they open and be readable/editable on the new computer?

Is there something special I need to do to ensure that I can use them on new computer, or is it hopeless?

Not a problem. Microsoft exerts a lot of effort to make sure their newer applications are backwards compatible with files saved in older versions. So you should be safe (y)

However, if you have any custom macros, they might not port as well. Sounds like that probably isn't the case, however.
