Hello and I hope everyone had a nice new year.

First off, my computer has been getting a :( face (AKA: BSOD) for 3 days. I called HP and told them about the situation and sent a flash drive but its not here.
Then, when I try to restore my computer, It doesn't like the way I set it up (See attachments). I don't know what to do next but to return it back to Walmart. Anyway, I got this for Christmas.

Oh and by the way, heres my information since this is brand new!

If you just got it for Christmas I'd take it back for a new one. Who knows what else is wrong with it.

    I agree
With a BSOD and now the computer apparently unable to find the recovery partition on the hard drive to - refresh - windows 8.1 AND in view of it being only a few days old the advice from Brandon is the best advice.

    On a side note
should that read and THEY sent a flash drive but it has not arrived - then even when it does - the best advice is still to refer to Walmart

The other aspect that crosses my mind is
That suggests to me that you have made changes to the system - if so possibly better advice could be offered if we knew what changes

Unfortunately, this item cannot be returned if I cant erase this. The flash drives coming tomorrow. Brandon, I am going to have to keep trying until the drive comes. Stupid HP, they never put Recovery media into the box.:mad::mad::mad::mad:

You can't return a computer to Walmart until you erase what? Walmart takes everything back.

As my colleague TonyB25 has asked and indeed as I asked on post 3

What changes do you refer to and what erase do you now refer to
Also you appear to have a Sandisk Cruzer USB pen connected - when attempting refresh and it reports that the system cannot recognise it
What is on it - try refresh without anything connected

If you have changed any partitioning on the hard drive it is possibly the cause of the problem

NO OEM to the best of my knowledge provides recovery media WITH the computer for 8 or 8.1 - you make that recovery media on windows 8.1 when you have set up the computer OR you use the recovery partition on the hard drive OR as a last resort you order the recovery media from the OEM manufacturer

If you could explain what you mean - we may be able to make progress - if indeed only to repeat our advise to take it back to Walmart

Tony, I may have to return it, depending on the severity of the problem.

You should return it instead of continuing to try to fix it.

Everything is working properly. Restored after a 3-9 hour recovery process. Thanks everyone for the assistance. :D
