Solved: CPU at 40C is that hot?

    HP Pavillion Desktop a1210n
    Athlon 64 3500+

    I just installed PC Wizard and according to the stats my cpu temp is at 40C.
    Is that too hot? I've never tried overclocking.

    No, it is OK. It is a little warm for a single core amd64 however hp cases are NOT designed for good cooling so it is OK.

    Have you opened the case lately and given the system a good cleaning with a can of air?

    Yeah, my Core 2 Quad runs at about 48 so 40 should be okay. Like the other poster said, it can't hurt to give it a good clean though.

    Single core amd64s run a LOT cooler than a quad core intel. I remember building a number of single core amd64s years ago. I usually saw temps of 25-30C or so. The first one I built I thought something was wrong because it was so cool.
