yes it is an iso image file and i burned it as an image.
But the problem is that if the original file is not bootable then how will my cd boot, after burning the image.

really i have wasted abt 20-30 cds to make this file bootable.

i have used magic iso, cdburnerxp which is recommended by sourceforge.net

i even bought floppy drive so i can make cd bootable but nothing worked.

    really i tried hard.

The DBAN iso is bootable if you burned it correctly.
You may just want to try downloading the ISO again. It might have gotten corrupted when downloading.
What files do you see on the CD after you burn the image?

    Which file did you download?
If it was the dban-2.0.0_powerpc.iso that is for an Apple Mac/PowerPC, not for a Windows system. It won't boot a PC.

The one you want is this zip file:
    dban-beta.2007042900_i386.zip
    Inside will be this file:
    dban-beta.2006042900_i386.iso
That's the iso file you want to burn.
Or you can use the 1.0.7 version from 2006
    dban-1.0.7_i386.iso

i m using windows 7 i have custom assembled pc with core2duo processor

i just read it from dban official site:- www.dban.org/help

If you have a computer with an Intel Core Duo processor, then you must use the DBAN 2.0 pre-release to get full performance.

I've only used the dban-beta.2007042900_i386.iso a couple of times, and had no problem. There hasn't been any development in over two years, three for the Intel version, so it's doubtful anything new is in the works.
You can give Active KillDisk a try, see if it works better for you.

Just a tip, pick yourself up a couple of cd-rw discs, that way if you have a problem with burning, or the software you burn to them, you can just erase, and reuse.
