In xp, can you delete something from the all programs list but not delete it from your computer?

Sure, just delete the shortcut out of one of these places:

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs
    C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Start Menu\
    C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Start Menu\Programs

Or you might want to just move the shortcut somewhere in case later on you want to put it back.
