Please use the TSG System Info tool to let Tech's know the specs of your computer: http://static.techguy.org/download/SysInfo.exe Copy and paste the results here in your thread.
Also, if its a brand name system like an Acer,Dell or HP, please post the exact model of the system.

You might try using Disk Cleanup, found in Accessories/System Tools. This will get rid of some of your junk.

You need to be more specific about what your problem is and why you're wanting to delete files.

Between the Windows operating system and all the apps that you have installed in your computer, there very well may be over a million files for Norton to scan.

    ---------------------------------------------------------

The HP Pavilion a6720y desktop comes with a 640 GB hard drive.

Unless you've loaded it with photos, videos, music, etc., it should have plenty of free space.

Seems rather silly to delete your data just so Norton has fewer files to scan. Like cutting off your nose to spite your face. If you really don't want to use programs or keep data, then delete away.

Or, you could save them to a Flash drive/DVD or some other storage medium and get them off your drive.

That's still only one copy. If the data doesn't matter do you, delete it. If it does, then you still need two copies, preferably three with one offsite.

You have no idea where you store your pictures or your music? They're not in your Pictures or Music folders? You can't find those folders? You've never looked?
