I have a Windows 98se PC that was formerly on a network and I still get an annoying network policy notice on start up. It comes up before the password window. I am no longer on this network with this PC and do not need this notice which is on my PC. How do I find this file and delete it?

Thanks for the suggestions Blues Harp. I tried it and unchecked all items in start up except the ones you specified. Unfortunatley, this annoying notice still appears on start up. Any other ideas?

Is it asking you to log onto the network?

Control Panel>Network, set the primary network login to
    Windows Logon>reboot.

I tried you suggestion on changing the network setting to Windows Logon and it did not work. The message that comes up prior to passward is a policy statement several sentences long about monitoring and restrictions. It does not ask me to log on to the network. We no longer use this policy statement on our network and I am not on the network with this computer, so was stored on my PC a long time ago. I appreciate your help on this annoying little problem.

Hi Roger, I used to have a 98se always turned on to my left.
But it gave up the ghost.[died on me]
And my memory is fading etc.etc.
    Hopefully someone here will know.

Thanks for you help anyway. Perhaps the best solution is for me to ditch this old PC and only use my newer one with Vista.

    In Regedit navigate to :
    Code:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
Delete the values LegalNoticeCaption and LegalNoticeText
