Solved: DHCP Network Problem

This is my second attempt with Linux. The first was a disaster, and took 2 weeks to finally uninstall it. That was with SuSE 7. This time I'm trying Ubuntu on an old 4 GB hard drive, so if it works fine, if it doesn't I've got a few more old 4 GB hard drives to whip out.

Right now I'm getting a failure message saying The base system installation into /target/ failed.

Check /var/log/messages or see virtual console 3 for the details.


Don't exactly know what this means, or how I can check anything at this point. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Yes, for the 2 partitions, just as default. It's only a 4 GB HDD, and in a way a trial run. Once I learn what I am doing correctly, then I'll reinstall on a large HDD.
