    hi could someone possibly help me i have a toshiba satellite pro L100 laptop it is an old laptop and does not have a hdmi slot i have read many conflicting reports that a display port to hdmi cable would make it possible for me to connect my laptop to my tv but i am not even sure if my computer has a display port or if the cable would carry picture and sound i have included a link to the cable i am talking about could anyone tell me if this would work on my laptop thanks in advance x

    If it's too old for an HDMI port, it doesn't have a DisplayPort either. It probably just has VGA which would connect to the VGA port on the TV, assuming there's one. Otherwise the alternatives get more expensive.

    I have never tried it but I would imagine that would work from a laptop VGA output to a TV HDMI input. If it did, it would only work for video not audio because VGA has no audio line, you would need to use another cable from your laptop headphone socket to a suitable input socket on the TV to get sound out of the TV also.
