    have you tried aligning the table to top
    td valign="top"

    or

    <table width="100%" border="0">
    <tr>
    <td valign="top"><table width="100%" border="0">
    <tr>
    <td>text</td>
    </tr>
    </table></td>
    </tr>
    </table>

    If it's at the very top of a page, you'll want to change the body tag to include something like:

    HTML:
    <body leftmargin="0" topmargin="0" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0">
    Note that most browsers don't use all of those, they're required for things to look correct on some older browsers.

    Thanks, that worked.

    Is there a way to remove the table border from just the top of the table?

    thanks,

    nick

    <table style="border-top:0;">

    Putting style="border-top:0;" in your table tag should do it
