I've been using Backup My PC by Stompsoft since 2005 on my Windows 98SE system. I have twenty years of publications in draft form housed in a DOS program, so must still keep 98SE alive until they are published.

Unfortunately, the guys at the repair shop said my 98SE just fried itself, in spite of being turned off, including the hard drive. I have the old drive. The good news is that I had backed up to Stomp before the crash.

They put together a "new" 98SE for me, in my old case, and I tried to load from the Backup My PC 2005 Stomp backup disk, but found I must have the program itself installed to load the backup. The original link Stompsoft sent to me for downloading my $60 purchase is dead, and the Stomp website itself seems to have vanished.

Does anyone have Stomp's Backup My PC 2005, or know of a source for downloading? Any help greatly appreciated. It seems my twenty year effort is backed up, but cannot be accessed without the program itself, which is also on the backup disk!

    Thanks much!

    Hi Zee,

    Thanks for your input!

Problem solved. I ordered the boxed program from an offering at amazon.com, but also downloaded a trial version of the 2005 program, which was offered on the "geek guys" site. It worked to open and restore what I had backed up, including the original program!
