Solved: Drive won't recognize CDs or DVDs

    I have a Dell laptop. It doesn't matter what I put into the drive, it doesn't see it. It just tells me to insert a disk.

    Can you help?

    try taking the actual drive out of the laptop and reseat it backin - i have also seen removing the battery completely help here

    I tried that to no avil. Someone mentioned SCSI drives with regard to CD/DVD RW. Do you know anything about that? I don't even know where to begin looking.

    I doubt it. It's 2 years old. I'm just trying to help a friend.

    Dell used to default to a three year warranty in UK on there website - you paid for it - i know loads of peopke who did not relise that - maybe worth checking
