    Hi,
Cannot find a driver for Anyview webcam I want to install on Toshiba Satellite Laptop.
No identifying numbers show on camera, system finds it but cannot find a driver for it "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)".

Cannot find a website for Anyview but found it as a discontinued item on http://www.dealsdirect.com.au/anyview-1-3m-pixel-pc-usb-webcam-1/ which shows what might be a model number Anyview 1.3M Pixel PC USB Webcam N-AWCAVC106R1300K in the description. No luck searching on that either.

From another thread with similar problem the Device instance path was asked for, mine shows "USB\VID_0AC8&PID_305B\5&3A33FE6E&0&2".

What's the complete model number of that Toshiba Satellite laptop?
Note:The complete model number will be 2 sets of characters separated by a dash.

Which country was that laptop purchased?

Here is the support site for your Toshiba Satellite L850/046 (PSKG8A-046001 ) 15.6" laptop.

According to its specifications section, it has a built-in high definition webcam.

It has "Toshiba Web Camera Application" software for Windows 7 32-bit/64-bit, but not for Windows 8/8.1 32-bit/64-bit.

It's my guess its built-in webcam doesn't work with Windows 8.1 64-bit and you're trying to use an external webcam with it.

    Is that correct?

The built in webcam works OK. I am trying to hook up the external cam to look at the underside of my old car engine area without crawling under it. I am doing some fixing and restoring.

If your external USB webcam is so outdated that you can't get it to work, you might consider getting a more modern one.

    Logitech is what I use.

Found a driver that works, gives me vision anyway although the LED's don't work so it will do the job.
I don't know whether my reluctance to spend money is because I am on a limited pension or because I am naturally spendthrift.
    Thanks guys for your help.
    regards
