Hi, I hope someone can help....

I'm running a computer at work (XP Proffesional) and I suddenly started getting an application error on C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe with exception 80000007. I close the box and then get a pop up explaining "DrWatson Postmortem Debugger has encountered a problem and needs to close" and that they are apparantely "sorry for any inconvenience." Then, when I close that box, the computer freezes up. So, I open up task manager and it lists several drwtsn32 entries. So I end the tasks, and the computer unfreezes, and it's fine!

Now, I've read the forum chain at http://forums.techguy.org/t417530.html which seemed to be a similar problem, and tried what I could to no avail.

I normally run Kaspersky anti-virus, Ad-aware, Spybot and Registry Mechanic, all of which I have tried in 'Safe Mode' also to no avail.

I have since tried AVG Anti-spyware, Spyware blaster and Spyware Guard, also in 'Safe Mode'. Bizarrely, in 'Safe Mode' the problem seems to recur occaisionally, whereas in normal mode, it just happens the once when I log in.

I switched off drwtsn32 to see what would happen, but I just got a different dialog box at log in saying that the location couldn't be read. So I turned drwtsn back on - I'd rather sort the problem out than try to skirt round it anyway!

Looking up in Google, I found someone who said that it was possibly a toolbar error, so I turned off or uninstalled every toolbar, which also didn.t help!

I think that's everything I can report - I'll take a hijack this reading just to be complete:

I notice no drwtsn in the running processes!

Anyway, any thoughts would be much appretiated! As this is a work computer running security programmes, I'd rather not reinstall Windows if it can be helped!

    Many thanks in advance......
