Dual boot XP with windows 7 on 2 Harddrives - (Windows 7 already installed)

I've read that i should install XP first. But I already have windows 7 installed and dont want to wipe that drive clean and reinstall.

Is this possilbe? To add a new sata hard drive and install xp 32bit to an existing PC running Win7 64 bit. With having a boot option at start up?

I installed XP and W7 on their own HDDs.
I've read that there can be problems trying to remove one or the other ..
And I didn't want to take a chance of breaking a perfectly good XP system :D

But .. Here's a tutorial on how to install XP and W7 on one HDD

This sounds like a perfect solution. My only question now is: I have windows7 64bit and want the partition with XP to be 32bit. Is this possible?

Are you trying to put them both on the same HD?

If i need to buy another Hard drive for this, then so be it. It is a must that XP needs to be 32bit. Got some work software that wont run on anything but xp 32bit.

It would be my Guess that you can run XP-32 and W7-64 on the same HDD.

Are you aware that W7 can run XP in a Virtual Mode ???
Maybe this'll work for your "work" software

    How big is your HD?

I did that a once but after awhile had problems...so different physical drives is better.

After I installed on same drive only XP would start ....so you have to put your W7 disk in and do a repair startup ...and now only W7 will start so I used EasyBCD to add XP in the boot loader

A good 320gig HDD is only $50 ... I think this would be worth the KISS principal :D ... (Keep it Simple, Stupid)
