I just recently installed a hard drive from one of my older systems. It's nothing special just an old 1.2GB Hard Drive that came out of a very old Win98 Computer. I was wondering why my computer was doing three memory checks. What happens on the first one is it says:

    Configuration automatically configured
    60GB[Disk 1] DVD-ROM[Disk 3] CD-RW [Disk 4]

After the second time it comes up and says:

    Configuration automatically configured
    60GB[Disk 1] 1.2GB [Disk 2] DVD-ROM[Disk 3] CD-RW [Disk 4]

Then it does the mem check a third time and boots up to WinXP Pro

    Here is my sys config.

    Compaq 7110US
    CPU: AMD Athlon 64 @ 1.3GHz (n)
    Memory: 256MB RAM (y) (n)
    Hard Drive 1: 60GB Hard Drive (y)
    Hard Drive 2: 1.2GB Hard Drive(Storage) (y)
    Grap. Card: 64MB NVIDIA GeForce2 (n)
