I have been using a Toshiba DR430 for a while and everything functioned. Then today I decided to switch back to my Panasonic DMR EA18 which had worked perfectly before. This time, it was hooked up just like before, only the picture from the source and the picture was black and white. I reversed this process - same cables - and the Toshiba worked fine. I have another Panasonic unit and the same B&W issue. Any clues?
Thanks, John

Verify the source. B&W is often an indication of an unsupported source. ie: PAL material input to an NTSC device (or vice versa).

The source is a Comcast DVR. There is no mention of any option like PAL or NTSC on the recorder. This worked fine with the Toshiba dvd recorder.

This turned out to be a copy guard problem with the HDMI to S video converter I was using
