My daughter has asked me to edit an old video for her. It will not open in my video editor or in Windows Media Player. The file extension is.dv. Windows tells me I need to download the proper codec for this type file but warns against downloading one from a source I don't trust saying that there are many virus and malware problems out there. Does anyone know a trusted source for this codec? Thanks in advance for your help. :)

Thanks but I already figured it out. Went online to www.cloudconvert.com, uploaded to the converter, then downloaded as a .wmv file and it opened just fine in MS videoplayer where I can edit it.
