For a week now I have searched for a solution to this problem, I am not a novice in computer use but this has me stumped.
My drive is not being recognized in any form of the computer, what i have tried:

    entering contents of FIXCD.REG
Tried to install firmware/drivers but it says drive not found
Regedit to delete upper and lower filters to which there was none
Check cables, even replaced the cables and made sure it has power
Got a new drive even though I knew the other one was in working condition
Checked for viruses on every level including checking for malware, spyware and adware, It's clean.
    Changed power source
unplugged and replugged for auto detection
    Bios does not detect it

    System:
    Dell,Windows XP Home edition, 4MB, 3.2 processor.

The CPU works fine, why would you take that drastic measure?
