When I scan a doc. I find I cannot edit it. It obviously regards it as a picture, not text, even though it is printed as a document.

Do I need to download OCR and if so, is it safe to do so? Have found a free trial on the website.

My printer/scanner is Epson Stylus DX440 and I`m using Vista Home Premium.

There should be options to scan as picture, text, or text with embedded graphics. If you don't get these options on each scan you must have a default set. Look for "Options" or "Tools" or "Defaults" or whatever. And, yes, to edit you'll want some optical character recognition.

Hi!

Thanks for your advice - I hope soon to check the defaults, options etc. and will let you know the outcome.
