Hey I was wondering whether or not If I buy hard drive that is EIDE will it work in my normal IDE interface.?

most certainly. all the 'e' stands for is extended.....extended storage, support for non-hd devices, etc...

Just to clarify, all 'IDE' devices are actually 'EIDE' drives but the E gets dropped. IDE is a loosly used term to identify just about any drive with its own controller.

i'm going to have to disagree with you on that, triple6. IDE drives were a standard before EIDE showed up. The 'enhanced' version could do things that the IDE could not.

But yes, ide, eide, and ata are all loosely used interchangably to describe drive with it's own controller.

Yes thats correct, but today all devices are EIDE but IDE is still used to describe them, its is in fact incorrect but people are lazy.
