running xp home
After wiping out my c drive and transferring info from older computer when I boot up I get this message every time:
checking file system on c
the type of file system is NTFS
cannot open volume for direct accsess
windows has finished checking the disk

If I try running "option will check volume for errors" I end up getting this message also and does not run the check

Thanks for any help

I downloaded sp 2 hotfix and it corrected it self. In add and remove it showed I had SP2 download but apparently did not.
Thanks for your help Rog!!!!

Can you clarify what it was you downloaded? Did you update to Service Pack2 or was there a separate "hotfix" you found for the problem?

Okeydoke, great. I'll mark the problem Solved then, an option also available to you in the Thread Tools menu.
