thanks but I dont get any other error messages than what I have told you about MSIMN has caused an error the program will close now. And my computer seems to be freezing alot lately, and it shouldnt from my understanding we have a lot of memory in this computer and its pretty fast also. We have a pentium 4 with a 1.7 processor,256 mb and 60 gb so I dont think it should be freezing up as much as it has been. It froze about 6 times today. please help

I suggest you first try out the recommendations in the MS article.

And scan for viruses (see my second post).

Good luck,

In addition to what Tony suggested. Please do that Virus Scan and run Adaware again.

2. KERNEL32. DLL has caused an error
3. MSVCRT.DLL has caused an error the program will close
4. WS2_32.DLL has caused an error the program will close.
This is from your original question. These are errors. what program are you running when you get these? Outlook Express? and is there more to the error? If you would post the entire message that might provide a clue. Freezing can be caused by many things. If you are freezing, you could be low in resources. Not memory. If too many programs are running you may need to shut some down. Look in Start>run>Msconfig and see what you have going at start. And that's only the beginning. IE and the Internet can use up Resources quickly as can graphics programs.

You may have a corrupted or out of date video driver. Especially if this happens on the Internet.

Hi Cheryl,

try clearing the tif (temporary internet files) folder from dos. to do this, hold down the ctrl key on bootup until you see the win98 startup menu. select "command prompt only", and at the prompt enter (be careful, this command deletes everything in the specified directory):

deltree /y c:\windows\tempor~1\

then enter:

win

to load windows again.

Also, just checking, are you sure you've completely removed the trojan?

Might also help if you post your startup programs.Go to Start>Run>Type in Msinfo32>click ok.Click on the + sign next to software environment>click on startup programs>click edit>select all>click edit copy and paste the page back here.

AcaCandy: Just to let you know that I went into the house calls web page and that who said I had a trojan virus and they deleted it from my system. So I assume that its gone. I am going to do what you suggested hopefully this will work.

AcaCandy: Help! I did what you said to do but I think you gave me the wrong advise because I am using windows ME not 98. So when I use the ctrl key on boot up is comes up with this:

1. Normal
2. Logged (bootlog.TXT)
3. Safe Mode
4. Step-by-step confirmation

Not sure what to do. Please help!

thanks

Cheryl,

In Millennium you need to start up with a boot disk in order to get to pure Ms-DOS.
If you don't have one, you can make one easily yourself in Software Add Remove/Start up disk.

Good luck,
