    Hiya

Go to Windows Explorer | Tools | Options. View.

In the box, look for Hide File Extensions For Known File Types. Untick that, apply and Ok.

    BTW, what was the extension?

    Regards

    Hiya

Are you saying you were getting some errors on mfc42, msvcrt.dll and msvcirt?
If so, can you post the full message. When the error box appears, click Details and copy/paste the contents.

Now, as to this file that you cannot open, if you rightclick on it and choose Properties, the extension will be shown. Can you tell us what it is?

    Regards

    eddie
