Solved: excel length of date field

    the answer to this might of been found with a search but hey i'm lazy today and wanted to see who the excel masters are :D

    using excel 2007, cell a1 contains an array formula (CSE) like so - {=MAX(LEN(A2:A470000))}
    cells a2 through a470000 contain dates such as
    12/12/2011
    etc, you get the idea, i need the formula or something else entirely to return 10 not 5

    i'll answer if myself thanks to another web site, Mike these guys are slackin' 'round here it looks like :D

    =MAX(LEN(TEXT(A2:A470000,"m/d/yyyy")))

    exit celll with ctrl, shift, enter
