Greetings ! I have an old, but very functional IBM aptiva. Running win 98. This pc does not have the ability to monitor the various internal temperatures for me. I have resorted to taping a small temperature prove over the exhaust fan at the rear. It varies between 78 and 82 degs. (F). Does anyone know what range it should be in ? I keep it very clean and just want to know when it's getting too warm. We use this pc mainly for transfering info. to our local hospital re: my dads transplant, and of course other uses. thanks to anyone responding.. -d-
It still will not indicate the temperature at the critical area, being the CPU "die" itself though.
If the PC is not suddenly restarting for no reason, why are you suspicious of the temperature? Have you taken the cover off to check the dust build-up on the CPU heatsink itself?
If you've blown the dust out of critical areas, like the processor fan/HS, I'd think that would be a very reasonable temperature.
