    Hi!

I am having a lot of trouble with this. I am trying to export/transfer my emails from my live account (Exchange ActiveSync) to my Outlook account (also Exchange ActiveSync). I am running Windows 8 and have Outlook 2013 (32bit) via Office 365. I have Windows Live Mail installed and have been trying the instructions posted on the Microsoft website here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/980534

The site mentions Exchange (not ActiveSync) so I don't know if this is a problem for me or not. Anyway, I follow the instructions and I get this error: "WLM was unable to export all of your messages. Your disk may not have enough space for all of the messages, or some of the messages you're exporting may be corrupted. Run Disk Cleanup or delete some files then try to export your messages again." I have plenty of space... over 300GBs and have run the disk cleanup. I have also been on the phone for 2 hours with MS's "tech support" but most of the time is spent repeating my name or trying to explain what my issue is.

    I NEED HELP!!!

    Please and thank you!

live account and outlook account are the same service
    as is hotmail

so have you now setup different email address ?

these instructions are for transfering email from the WLM client to the outlook client (Not the same as outlook.com)

Is this what you are doing ?
    using windows live mail program
    AND
using outlook program (outlook 2013/2010 etc)
    on your PC

    Hi, thanks for replying!

I am using the WLM 2012 client and Outlook 2013 as well. I originally have the @live.com email, but created an @outlook.com email for professional use with work and grad school. My main goal is to have the @live.com emails saved to my outlook.com profile. I do not want to forward each individual email, but am willing to do any other workarounds!

the way WLM and Outlook work with outlook.com
then you should be able to simply move the emails between accounts
I do this all the time with outlook accounts
using WLM or using outlook 2013/2010

setup outlook 2013 so that is working with both accounts

now you have folders on outlook for both accounts

you can click on any email or select a range of emails from one account
and then drag or copy to the other account
they will then be synced with that account

So i have a few email accounts setup on my outlook 2013
and all the emails I receive from clients I want to keep as a copy on just one account under various folders

so on my outlook.com account in outlook 2013
i have a list of folders

now when any email comes in from any other email - i simply drag the email to the relevant folder on outlook.com email under outlook 2013

Now a copy of that email is also sent to the outlook.com email server and therefore ALL my emails are under 1 account

or have i completely misunderstood what you want to achieve

That's exactly what I am trying to do, you got it. I have both accounts set up under Outlook 2013 now, but when I try to drag into the appropriate folder from my live to my outlook it says "Cannot move the items. The folders you are trying to change do not support this operation. Could not complete the operation because the service provider does not support it"

and it does not matter which way you drag the emails - they dont work

    Live.com > Outlook.com
    OR
    Outlook.com > Live.com

Correct, either way I try, it does not transfer. At the moment I'm trying a workaround I just thought of. I added a gmail (IMAP) account to my Outlook 2013, I am transferring my live.com emails into that (seems to be working) and am waiting for the sync to happen. From there I will export my gmail account into my outlook account which has worked before... thats the only workaround I can think of.

    Quite an old article

I have a couple of outlook.com and hotmail accounts along with gmail, yahoo, a domain name of my own
and they all seem to transfer OK
I also use thunderbird, outlook 2010 outlook 2013 and WLM and they also work on all those clients

Well I got it to transfer so SUCCESS!!! Thanks for your help, it was good to know that I'm not freaking crazy or have someone tell me that its not possible (which was what the tech guys were telling me).

Anyway I have email forwarding so future messages will be sent to my outlook!

    Thanks again!
