Solved: External hard drive icon not shown.

Im having trouble installing my external hard drive. I
plug it into my USB port and it registers the hardware, but i have no way to access it through "My Computer". When i check it through device manager everything checks out fine, but it still won't give me an icon in My
Computer. What do i do?

If you are using anything except XP or 2000, you must assign it a drive letter in Device Manager. After a restart, it will show up in MyComputer only when it's plugged in and running.

Right click on My Computer, Manage, Disk Management. If this is a new drive, chances are you'll have to partition and format it here, then it'll show up in My Computer.
