    Hello,

Recently, my computer has stopped recognizing my western digital drive. The strange thing is, my PS3 reads it just fine, to the point where I can play movies and what not off of it just fine.

When I plug it in, the lights on the drive light up, and I can hear/feel it working, yet under 'my computer', there's nothing.

I also tried it in another computer, and again, it didn't show up.

    Advice?

    Thanks!

Update, I tried my girlfriend's (old) computer which runs Windows XP, and it worked just fine. Should I restore my computer to a point a few weeks ago prior to some windows updates?

    (I run Vista)

I tried another computer running Vista. My girlfriends computer (which it works on) is running XP.

Tried a system restore, and at first it wouldn't allow me because there was a disk error. So I booted up in safe mode and performed a disk check, and after a few hours, it was back up and running.

I then performed a system restore.

    Problem still exists!

Geez, I've switched it back and forth a few times, I"m not positive. NTFS I believe.

Also, in order to transfer a file, I tried using 3 or 4 other flash drives, and the all asked that I format the drive before using it.

    What's up with that?

    Thanks for the help Megabite.

Turns out, I had a rootkit virus, which must have been causing the problems. (PHYSICALDRIVE0)

Downloaded and ran TDSSKiller, and it took care of the problem.
