    Hello,
I use win98 se and have come across recently two files that I have no clue what they are..Ive searched the web and found no answers yet and I clicked on properities and they have nothing there to say what they belong to but they are also in my startup system..The files are labeled as follows:
    Lpro c:\windows\application data\tlec.exe
    FVHM c:\windows\system\ksodyc.exe

Ive had trouble with slow booting and windows freezing and wondering if these two have anything to do with it..Ive ran adware and spybot and found nothing there and my nortons found no virus so I am at a lost here.

Any help would be appreciated thanks christie

interesting - nothing on google or a search of this forum.

    HIJACK THIS:
Download and copy hijackthis to its own folder , it makes backups so keeping them separate and available can be useful.

Note the Spyware tools websites are very often under attack and so I have provided more than 1 location to download from:

    http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/
    http://209.133.47.200/~merijn/downloads.html
    http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/
    http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html
    http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.exe
    http://www.thewhities.com/
http://www.sherrylynn.us/privacypolicy (this has an older version 1.97 - if you can not get to any of the above sites)

Close all open windows and open Hijack This. Click “Scan”. When the scan is finished (it only takes a second), the scan button will change to “Save Log”.
Click on “Save Log” and then save it to NotePad.
Click on “Edit” – “Select all” – “copy” and then “paste” into the thread.
DO NOT FIX ANYTHING wait advice from one of the many security experts in this forum.

I currently do not have the skill/competence to advise and poor advice can be far more damaging to your PC with this software, and so I will be unable to add any advice on the log and so will nolonger be replying to your post with regards to the HJT issue, so please have patience and wait for one of the secruity experts to provide further detailed advice

i will however, be notified when you post the log

The Pac's Portal startup list site didn't find anything either.

Slow booting and freezing can be caused by a number of reasons. Viruses, spyware, and other "nasties" is the first place to look, and a bloated startup load is the second place to look.

Click Start - Run, type in MSCONFIG, then click OK - Startup(tab). Are those 2 entries among the list of startup entries that are checked? If they are, don't uncheck and disable them yet until you post a HijackThis log here first.

Other than ScanRegistry, SystemTray, and the antivirus program entries, Windows 98SE needs very few other programs running in the background.

Are you using the most current versions of Spybot(1.3) and Ad-Aware(1.05), and have they been updated with the latest files?

You can uncheck EM_EXEC.EXE in the MSCONFIG "Startup" tab. This shouldn't effect the function of your Logitech mouse. If it does, just go back and recheck it. I have it unchecked in both my 98SE and XP SP2 computers and my Logitech mice work just fine. Having EM_EXEC.EXE enabled is known to sap performance.

    You're welcome. :D

You're computer will run better and boot faster with the startup load trimmed down. (y)

This file is most likely LOP:

    c:\windows\application data\tlec.exe

    Go ahead and delete it.

This one could be any number of forms of malware that use random file names:

    c:\windows\system\ksodyc.exe

Any time you copy and paste a file name into a Google search and get 0 hits, you can be about 99% certain it's a baddie. I'd sy to go ahead and delete that one too, but if you want to check it out first, do this:

    Go here

Look at the top of the page for the Submit file box.

    Click on Browse

Navigate to the c:\windows\system and upload the .... ksodyc.exe .... file and let us know what you find.
