Get rid of AVG and replace it with Microsoft Security Essentials 2.0.657.0.

Which version of Java do you currently have installed?

If this problem just started about a week ago, try to remember what you did with your computer before the problem started.

I'm an Internet Explorer 8 user and don't use Google Chrome, so I can't comment on it.

The Intel D946GZIS motherboard supports up to 4 GB of RAM, so you might consider increasing the RAM in your computer from 1 GB to 2 GB.

    Java Runtime Environment 1.6.0.23( Java(TM) 6 Update 23 ) is the current version, so you're good. (y)

Do not install and use AVG 2011 because it's gotten very bloated and is problematic at times.

Use Microsoft Security Essentials 2.0.657.0 for combating viruses and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.50.1.1100 and SUPERAntiSpyware 4.48.0.1000 for combating malware and spyware and other "nasties". They're all free and all get good recommendations in these forums.
