I'm facing very strange problem, Whenever I go to Tools-->Folder Options-->
View-->Hidden files and folders. I find both the radio buttons as checked ie. "Show hidden files and folders" and "Do not show....."

I scanned my PC with Norton Antivirus, AVG, No-Adware,Spyware Doctor but nothing helped
    Any suggestions??
    p/s: I'm having WinXP.
    Thanks
    Tariq

Tariq, Have you tried unchecking one of them, click Apply/Ok then restarting your computer?

    thanks for your reply.
Yes, after I click any one option the other one is de-selected and everthing looks fine, then I click apply, close Folder Options, Open it again, its again the same thing.
    Re-starting doesn't make any difference.
    Thanks

    See if it helps

Start > Run > Regedit > Navigate to

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\Folder\Hidden\SHOWALL

Delete the value "CheckedValue" in the right hand window.

Now create a new "DWORD Value" called exactly CheckedValue in the right hand window.

    Double click on CheckedValue.
In the opening 'Edit DWORD Value' box,set the 'Value data:' to 1

    Press Ok > Exit regedit

    Reboot

Just to add - am experiencing the same problem on both my and my girlfriendĀ“s pc. Both were infected with avpo.exe (trojan or malware I think), though I think I managed to clean both pcs of the infection. avpo.exe killed processess randomly and did not allow users to open the c drive from the My PC window (though entering through the address bar or the folders sidebar was allowed).

Not sure if the current problem is related to this avpo.exe infection as my spyware and virus software is not showing any threats. Just wanted to add this and will be monitoring for any much appreciated tips...

    Thanks,
    Al

I have Never Seen that the Both 'Radio Buttons are Checked' ... Until i Find a Solution for it you can use this simple Script to 'Hide|Unhide' Files and Folders

Hi Devil_himself, if you need, I can send you the print screen. Actually this problem is not bothering me as such since this problem is in my home PC and no body else uses it except me, but still I'm concerned, is it a virus or adware which could have some other harm.
    Thanks

Try this. Download the following file and save it to your desktop.

Fix Hidden Files and Folders Dual Settings

Double click the file and answer Yes to the prompt. Reboot and see if it helps or not. Good Luck.(y)
