I have 3 Acer laptops running win xp. Garamond is default font. One laptop defaults to Garamond Antiqua in Office 2003 and in WordPerfect (any version) - don't know about other programs. The other 2 default to Garamond regular and do not give the option of Garamond Antiqua even though Antiqua shows in control panel\fonts. Have reinstalled Garamond Antiqua a number of times on these 2 laptops but still antiqua is not an option and if I type it in under format\fonts it says "font style name does not exist." Cleaned out all Garamond on the 2 laptops and and reinstalled all Garamond taking them from the laptop that defaults to antiqua via the windows\font directory of that computer. The 2 still show that antiqua does not exist even though it shows under control panel\fonts. Have also tried installing all of garamond from garamond fonts that Microsoft gave me one time. Didn't help. This big problem as it means that paging is different on the 2 versus on the 1 laptop.

Have had the same problem in the past with three Thinkpads.

hmm...sounds weird. I'd try and make sure both pc's have all windows current updates and see if that helps.

    good luck

None of the thinkpads I had the same problem with before ever had any windows updates done on them. The problem existed on my 3 Acers before any windows updating was done. One of the ones that doesn't trecognize garamond antiqua has recently been updated. The other two including the one that Does recognize antiqua have still not been updated and don't plan to update them. I don't have access to my other 3 acers at the moment, but the one I am writing this on and which does Not recognize antiqua has Win XP Pro. The one that Does recognize antiqua I believer has XP home. Don't remember which XP the other one that does not recognize antiqua has on it.

SOLVED. Discovered that there were two sets of garamond installed - for example two sets of antiqua - different versions and publisher. Don't know why two computers were confused by this and one wasn't but all is okay now after deleting one set.
