Hi guys
Just wondering if it possible to format an external drive with an OS installed on it via usb? Normally I would hook it up to a pc and use a startup disc to clean it ready to use in an external inclosure
Thanks for any help (y)

Under XP you should be able to do it under disk management. As long as it is not the "system drive", usually "C" it will format it.

I thought that is just a quick format, not a full clean format like when using fdisk?

If 'C' drive is not active, as in not the primary OS can the 'C' drive be formatted?

You can do either. After you tell it to format, there is a checkbox for quick format.
