Jon Stewart caught up to Stephen Colbert's coverage of the Rupert Murdoch scandal Tuesday night, running over 'The News Of The World''s myriad offenses but focusing specifically on how Murdoch's other media properties are handling the story.

I am no fan of any individual (or group) controlling a huge chunk of anything but I also am no fan of groups blaming crimes and indiscressions by employees on CEO's.
Murdock had about as much knowlege of how each news reporter got news as Obama has about how each IRS clerk gets income information to test my taxes. If illegal means were used for either of these then the man at the top should appologize but not have more responsibility then that.

I find your statement naive, and ironic. Rupert Murdoch would be one of the first people on this planet to tell you that if it happened on Obama's watch, it was Obama's responsibility. I think President Obama would agree with that. I just think Murdoch is acting just like the weasel he has always been. Have you ever heard the term "corporate culture"?

Fox Spins Cantor's Comments On Disaster Relief

(Just think, if the Sherman Anti-trust laws and the Fairness Doctrine was in play, Fox would be in violation of using the word "News"..... )

There seems to be an Attitude in the Media that all this is rather like Naomi Campbell suing the Daily Mirror or something (which she did about 12 Years ago) resulting in a Slap on the Wrist and Compensation. It isn't, and Operations Weeting and Elveden are criminal not civil Investigations. When it is eventually brought to Court it won't be Plaintif Vs Defendant in a County Court - it'll be R Vs (whoever) in a Crown Court brought by the CPS, and could result in Gaol Sentences.

As such 'Exhibit A' should be the Journalists Code of Conduct. Meanwhile though, if Ben Bradley went through it like Robards does in the famous Film like it were Washington Post Copy about all he'd have left would be the Title!

It has also raised serious Questions about the Ethics of Research - like when does Research become Intrusion? This will have wide ranging Effects in other Areas of Life than just the Media!

Very true - and you don't become one by not knowing everything there is to know about your Competitors either. What this means is that as 7 Figure Salary Execs start to realise that their Limousine Lifestyles are potentially finished they'll begin spilling the proverbial on some of them.
