Does anyone know where to get a free download of a "recent" version of Microsoft Word (Only) with spell check? For Win 98, Thanks. Dave.

Microsoft Word isn't free. You'd have to purchase a version. You can probably get an older version for a good price at auction sites or discount software web sites.

Thanks, I did realize that it's not free but I was hoping an older version of Word might be. Sometimes companies offer their older versions of software free as a promotion for their newer updated version? Thanks. Dave.

Be careful if you find a website offering you to download software for free. It is very likely that you will be downloading a virus too.

I don't think Microsoft has ever done this. I remember the trouble I went through a few years ago finding a copy of DOS 3.2!

As was already mentioned, you might find something reasonably priced on, say, eBay or something.
